Legionella Death Latest

Legionella Outbreak Advice For SME's
It has now been officially confirmed that one person in Stoke on Trent has died following the latest outbreak of legionella disease in the UK.

Whilst the official cause of death has yet to be confirmed by the coroner it once again brings home the importance of a strong and robust policy on legionella and other aspects of health and safety

As an employer, or the person in control of the premises, worksite or location you are responsible for health and safety and need to take the right precautions to reduce the risks of exposure to legionella.

The HSE says "You or the person responsible for managing risks, need to understand your water systems, the equipment associated with the system such as pumps, heat exchangers, showers etc, and its constituent parts. Identify whether they are likely to create a risk from exposure to legionella".

If you are not sure where the responsibility lies or you are that person and you need advice or guidance you can contact us at GCS and get your initial advice for free directly from one of our experienced health and safety consultants.
