Do you need a fire risk assessment in Birmingham?
UK health and safety law imposes a duty to carry out a fire risk assessment. The duties are imposed on the Responsible Person, who, in a workplace, is the employer, but, in premises that are not a workplace, is the person having control of the premises. This can be a landlord or letting agent etc... If you are not sure who the responsible person is call us and check. 08450 950 960
The legislation does not specifically require that the fire risk assessment is carried out by a competent person. However, if as a result of a failure to properly carry out a fire risk assessment, an occupant of the building (or even someone in the immediate vicinity of the building) is put at risk of death or serious injury in case of fire, an offence is committed, which can lead to a heavy fine or, in serious cases imprisonment.
If your business / property is in Birmingham or the West midlands area and you need a fire risk assessment carried out there is one very simple choice to make and there are only 2 options.
Option 1 :
You can undertake a fire risk assessment training course and carry out the assessment yourself, or you can pay someone else who has completed a course to carry out the assessment for you.
Option 2 :
You can have the fire risk assessment carried out by GCS. Our fire risk assessor is an ex fireman with over 20 years experience who had advanced to a senior training officer before leaving the fire service to work in the health and safety sector.
As both of these options cost about the same and a fire risk assessment is probably the most life critical assessment you need to make in most working environments we think this is a no brainer. Which one would you choose ???
